New In Medamation MD Utility 4.0
Medamation Inc. is proud to
introduce Medamation MD Utility Version 4.0! Below
are just some of the many new and improved features.
New Name, New Features,
Familiar Face
Why "Utility"? Because we give you all the
tools you need to create AND manage your patient records. We
added many new features but kept out user-friendly interface.
VST Speed Select
Since it’s introduction Medamation MD has used Variable Select Text (VST)
elements to add choices to templates. Example: {mild/moderate/extreme}. Clicking a choice selected it.
Now Speed Select turns the arrow keys on your keyboard into high-speed selection & navigation

Left arrow: moves cursor one choice to the left (but does not select) |

Right arrow: moves cursor one choice to the right (but does not select) |

|
Down arrow: pressing it once highlights a choice in red, allowing you to make other selections. Pressing it again confirms the selection(s),
deletes the unselected choices & jumps to the next VST. |

Up Arrow: Deselects a choice, turning back from red to blue. |
With a little practice using Speed Select you should be able to navigate through all the VSTs in your chart
very quickly.
Multi-Page Prescriptions
Some states allow only one prescription per page. It is now simple to add a page break in Prescriptions. Just ad two equal signs wherever you want a page break. This example will print a 3-page prescription:

PDF & RTF Document Export
Medamation MD 4.0 allows you to export any document (Chart, Prescription, etc.) in Rich Text Format (RTF) or Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) for electronic sharing of information.
RTF is a format compatible with any word processor, and allows the editing of documents once they’re exported. PDF
is the defacto standard for document exchange, preserving all
graphics and text formatting. Most computers have Acrobat Reader installed but it can also be downloaded free from
www.adobe.com.
Care Providers & Referring Physician
This feature allows more than one health care provider’s name to be added to the record. These now include Primary Care Provider, Secondary Care Provider and Referring Care Provider. The Primary & Secondary Care Providers are selected from the Medamation MD user list. A Referring Care Provider can be from any office, anywhere in the world. Medamation MD 4.0 has a Referring Care Provider contact list that can be accessed from the Setup or Demographic screens.
Custom Correspondence
Correspondence has been greatly improved by allowing the user to import text from any field in the database into their correspondence. This text is dynamically linked so when the text in the linked field is modified, the text in the correspondence is automatically updated. To use, just put the field name in square brackets. Below is an example of a correspondence template that will automatically generate a referring provider
letter:
Dear [referring care provider].
This note is to thank you for referring [first name] [last name] to me for the Chief Complaint of [Chief Complaint].
The patient indicated the following history of present illness:
[history of present illness]
The vital sign were
[vitals]
I made the following patient assessment:
[assessment]
Sincerely,
[primary care provider]

Dragon 7.0 and 6.1 Compatibility
Medamation MD is now compatible with the newest version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
We have also added many new Dragon navigation commands within Medamation MD.
Note: Dragon 6.0 has a minor bug, but the patch is available free from
http://support.scansoft.com/downloads. Download update.exe.
Printing Enhancements
In the Setup Preferences screen you can set different reports (chart, prescription, multimedia, etc.) to automatically go to different printers.
You can preview or print the chart of any active patient directly from the Active Patient Screen.
The user can preview or print any report in any open patient record by clicking the appropriate button (Chart, Prescription, Discharge Instructions, Multimedia, Correspondence). “Print All” will print all reports, bypassing the preview screen.
Access 2002 Database
The core database has been upgraded to MS Access 2002 format. It is now password-locked to prevent tampering outside of Medamation MD.
Custom Header on Printed Charts
The chart header can be customized to include fields required by user’s office/hospital: name, age,
DOB, SSN, address, phone, referring care provider, medical record number, etc.
